| This Light Cavalry saber features a black leather grip with inset brass braid, a brass hilt, and a 3-bar swept brass handle. This replica cavalry saber has a 34" curved carbon steel blade and a polished nickel-plated steel scabbard. Overall Length: 40" Saber is patterned after the U.S. Model 1860 Light Calvary saber issued prior to the Civil War, and which was used during that period and into the Plains Indians Wars of the 1870s and 1880s. Price includes etching scabbard! We chemically etch the scabbard with your choice of 2 unit insignias/crests/ranks on either side of up to 5 lines of engraving. | The 1840 non commissioned sword was carried by American soldiers for over 70 years; a period which included the Mexican War, Civil War and Spanish American War. The single edged blade has a single broad fuller running from the ricasso to near the point. The entire hilt is cast brass and the grip is ribbed. Pommel is global with a capstan. This design would have been the one most frequently found on a Civil War battlefield. This item stretches 33 1/4" overall, and features a soft wrapped handle accented with wire wrapping and a brass plated guard and pommel. The 28 1/4" stainless steel blade is ornately detailed with an intricate etching over half the length of the blade. The sword includes a leather wrapped scabbard adorned with brass fittings.
